PARTY PLANNING TIPS

Party Games Tip
If you are hosting a party for young children, we suggest giving
every player a small prize after all of the games are played. Birthday
parties are not the time to teach life lessons of winning, losing
or sportsmanship...they are just supposed to be fun!

GAMES
Oh No! Old Macdonald: Before the party hide several
farm animal toys or cards around the party area, yard etc.
Paint or decorate a box to look like a barn or simply use
a basket. To play, explain to the children that old MacDonald's
animals got out of the barn. They will then search and
collect the toys/cards and return them to the barn.
Carrot Roundup: Carrot Roundup will keep 'em busy

in the yard, or in your home. Give each child a bucket.
On your mark they race to find as many carrots as they
can before you say, "STOP”
Fill the Barn: Use the same barn box as the game

Fairy Party
Recommended Friend - Any
type works with this theme
Clothing/Accessories: Fairy
Outfit and Recordable
sound chip. The wizard
outfits and sound
chip fit this theme if you have boys coming to the
party too.
ACTIVITIES
Fairy Face Painting….. A simple flower or butterfly on the
cheek will do. Add a small amount of very fine polyester glitter
to the top for a special sparkle. Less artistic variation: Fairy
face...mix aloe vera gel with the fine glitter. Apply a small amount
to the girls cheeks.
CRAFTS
Fairy Crown Craft: You can also give each party guest a magic meadow
fairy crown made with craft wire, ribbon and silk flowers. Boys
can make wizard hats instead.
GAMES
Find the Fairies: All of the fairies are hiding
in the Magic Meadow flowers and the girls must find
them all! Hide several silk flowers in the party
area for the girls to find. You can add a few paper "fairies" to
hide in the flowers for a special prize! The girls
will get to keep their flowers to take home.
Fairy Freeze Tag: Play this game just like "Freeze
Tag". Give each player a small pouch of glitter
before playing. One player will be "it".
When you say "GO" the girls run from whoever
is “it”. If she tags a player, that player
is frozen until another player sprinkles fairy dust
on her. Make sure that each player has a turn to be "it" and
that each round does not take too long.

Jungle Party
Recommended Friend - KUFU
(Panda Bear), DUNDEE
(Koala Bear), Simba
(tiger), Spots
(Cheetah)
Clothing/Accessories - White
T shirt with fabric
markers (to create your own T) and basic
denim jeans with sneakers.
DECORATIONS
Create a jungle with green streamers draped around the room and hanging
from the ceiling. Place animal stuffed animals where they can be
seen and played with. First, make paper-bag vines by removing the
bottom of a brown paper grocery bag (see below), then cutting down
one side to open it up (1). Cut the bag lengthwise into three strips,
then twist the strips to look like a vine (2). Finally, use masking
tape to connect the strips (3) and to hang them throughout your house.
Cut giant leaves from green poster board and tape them all around.
FOOD
• Dried ants (dried cranberries or raisins)
•
Snake eggs (green or red seedless grapes)
• Live worms (hot dogs cut into strips lengthwise and boiled until curly)
•
Beetle wings (potato chips)
• Croc teeth (apple sliced into wedges)
• Animal crackers
• Animal Bites - Make your child's favorite sandwiches and use cookie cutters
to cut them into animal shapes
CRAFTS
Safari Binoculars: The children can make binoculars from two toilet
paper rolls glued together then they can decorate them with animal
stickers and stamps.
GAMES
Jungle Charades: A great mixer for new arrivals,
this game gets even the bashful hissing and howling. Before
the party, sort through old magazines with your child,
cutting out pictures of animals and pasting them on index
cards. At the party, each child gets a turn to pick a card.
She must then act out her creature (no words are allowed,
but animal noises are encouraged) until the others shout
out her identity. When the animal is guessed, the rest
of the party goers get to jump up and act out the same
animal together
Pin the Tail on the Lion: Play this game just as
you would "Pin The Tail on the Donkey".Make a
simple lion and tails from poster board. Right before the
party add double stick tape and the children's names to
the tails.
“ Feed the Monkey” Bean Bag Toss: Paint
a monkey face on a box using one large brown circle for
the head and two smaller circles for the ears. Use a utility
knife (ADULTS ONLY) to cut a large opening where the mouth
would be and add the eyes and nose with black paint. Now
make or purchase 3-4 yellow beanbags (bananas). Socks filled
with dried beans and secured with rubber bands will work
well. To play, mark an "X" the floor where the
player will stand. Place the "monkey box" a reasonable
distance form the "X" and the children will take
turns feeding the hungry monkey his bananas!
The Jungle Jump: Use a large bed sheet or purchase
a GYMBOREE style playground parachute. Gather the children
and some adults to form a circle around the parachute.
Hold the edges and work together to move it up and down.
Once the children get the hang of it, allow a few children
at a time, to go under the "dome". Then put a
stuffed dog, lion, monkey...in the center and make then
hop and jump as well. |

Princess Party
Recommended Friend – Any
type works with this theme
Clothing/Accessories – Princess
outfit and a Recordable
Sound Chip
TIP: What girl doesn’t want to be a princess?? On the invitation,
ask your guests to wear their fanciest dress. This will get everyone
ready for a royal time!
GAMES
What’s missing?: Place several items on a
tray or cookie sheet. Try to find items that work with
the theme. Tiara, lipstick, Wand or royal scepter, Silver
spoon, Jewelry, Handkerchief etc. One player leaves the
room. Remove one or two items from the tray. When the player
returns they must guess what's missing. Everyone gets a
turn.
Sifting for Gems: This decadent party game harks
back to one of the many balls hosted in the seaside mansions
of Newport, Rhode Island, during the late 19th century.
Each woman guest was invited to grasp a handful of sand
and let it sift through her fingers to find a precious
gem left in her palm that was hers to take home.
To set up a similar game for your child's royal guests, get a shoe
box filled with clean sand or white cornmeal and a few plastic
rhinestones (sold in most craft stores) to bury in it. Have the
princesses take turns until each one has 2 gems. You can make pendants
by hot-gluing a paper clip between each pair of gems (adults only)
and stringing silvery elastic cord through one of the clip's looped
ends.
Hot Tiara: Play this game just
as you would "Hot Potato". Position the girls
into a circle. Pass a plastic tiara from player to
player around the circle while music is playing. When
the music stops the player holding the tiara will sit
in the center for one round or she can be in charge
of the music for one round.
ACTIVITY
Fantasy Picture Frames: Purchase cardboard or craft foam picture
frames. Decorate with stickers, ribbons, stick-on jewels, glitter
glue and gel pens. Take a photo of the party girls for each frame.

Clothing/Accessories – Basketball, baseball, football, hockey or soccer
outfit and a Recordable
Sound Chip. For girl guests use the cheerleading
outfit.
FOOD
Cookie Medals - To make the medals, bake sugar
cookie using your favorite recipe. Use a toothpick to
make a hole in the top of the cookie as soon as you take
them out of the oven. Insert a colorful ribbon through
the hole when the cookies are completely cool. Write "You're
#1" in cake icing on each cookie.
Set up a hotdog stand with all of the fixings. For drinks, use
sports bottles. Popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones are a great
addition.
GAMES
Long Jump: This game is a standing long jump,
so running starts are not allowed! Mark a starting line
with masking tape on the floor. Mark each jump with a
piece of tape and write the player’s name on it.
Record each player’s longest jump.
Training Course: Every athlete needs to be in
top physical shape and this course will give the kids
a workout. Set up an obstacle course using items you
already have around the house; Chairs, tires, jump ropes...the
teams will race the clock to go through the course.
Baseball Toss: Use a "Nerf" ball or
real base ball to hit a target or make it through a
hula hoop. This will also work with tennis or football.
Balloon BEE: Prior to the party a letter of
a sports team (cut out from construction paper) into
balloons. Do this multiple times and add in some extra
letters. Split your guests into two teams. The team
that pops the balloons first and spelled the sports
team name won a prize.
Football Toss: Hang hula hoops for a football
toss with nerf footballs.

Make a simple centerpiece by tying a bouquet of helium balloons
to a large plastic or plush dinosaur. Tape dinosaur footprints
on the walls and floor. Create a jungle effect by hanging strips
of green streamers in varying lengths from the ceiling. Place plastic
and plush dinosaurs throughout the party area.
Poster board dinosaur prints can lead from your front door to the
party room or patio
FOOD
Dirt: Make this fun treat before or during the
party. The kids will enjoy making
their own treat and you'll have another fun party activity. You'll
need:
chocolate cookie crumbs
chocolate pudding
Gummi worms
rock candy "dino eggs"
clear plastic cups
To Make:
Spoon a layer of pudding into clear plastic cups.
Add a few gummi worms and then a layer of cookie crumbs.
Repeat this process and top with some worms and dinosaur eggs.
Erupting Volcano Punch:
Volcano Punch is made with red or orange fruit drink, in a punch
bowl.
Place a piece of dry ice* in a sealed plastic container.
Punch or cut holes in the container lid.
Before serving drop the container into the punch bowl.
Makes for quite a show!
**Be very careful when using dry ice! Handle only with tongs or
heavy gloves! Do not put the dry ice directly in the punch or touch
it with
bare skin, it can burn and should NOT be ingested.
Dino shaped chicken Nuggets
Dinosaur Eggs (cherry tomatoes or grapes) in a Nest (shredded lettuce)
ACTIVITIES
Dino Dig: Fill a small pool with dirt or sand to create
the excavation site. Or use construction tape to designate a dig
area in your yard. Bury any these items before the party: Real
or plastic bones, popsicle sticks, small dinosaur toys, or old
coins. Provide each child with a small shovel or soup spoon and
a paint brush to clean their finds (optional).
Dino Egg Hunt: Fill plastic Easter eggs with candy. Kids love
this so plan on hiding a lot…at least 15 eggs per child.
Ring Toss with Dinosaurs: SOLID, heavy plastic dinosaurs are the
targets for this game. Rings can be purchased or easily made with
heavy rope and duct tape. Play just as you would horse shoes or
Ring Toss. Take turns and reward EACH child for a job well done!
Pin the Tail on the T-Rex - played the same
as the original.
CRAFT
Comets: Wrap raffia around a tennis ball and
secure with a rubber band. Finish it by wrapping a
square piece of fabric around the ball. Secure this
with another rubber band.
Binoculars: The children can make binoculars
from two toilet paper rolls glued together then they
can decorate them with animal stickers and stamps.

Firefighter Party
Recommended Friend: Any
type works with this theme
Clothing/Accessories – Fire
Fighter Outfit
GAMES
Water Brigade: Carry water from one large
bucket to another empty bucket, using a small beach
pail. The children will form two lines and pass the
pail from one player to another until the large filled
bucket is empty. They can then reverse play going
in the other direction.
Firehouse Obstacle Course: Requires a large space
or backyard. Every firefighter has to go through rigorous
training before they can receive their badge. Set a up
an obstacle course with piles of dirt, tires, stepping
stones, caution tape and any other safe items you can
think of. To play, the children will go through the "Fire
Zone" as fast as they can. They will probably want
to run the course several times. At the end of the course
each child will receive a badge or ribbon for bravery!
Pin the Tail on the Dalmatian: Play just like Pin the tail on the
Donkey using a hand drawn Dalmatian dog, paper tails and double
stick tape.

of sunglasses 2 Straw Hats, 2 lei necklaces, 2 Beach bags, 2 Beach
chairs
Each team lines up in a row. Place chairs a reasonable running
distance in front of each team or any distance your space will
allow. The objects listed above are placed into the beach bags
and located with each team. The first players on each team, put
on ALL of the items, run to the chair, return to their team, remove
the items and pass the bag to the next player. The next players
continue until the entire team has had a turn.
Bobbing for Seashells: Fill a large plastic
tub with water. Purchase floating items; plastic fish,
shells, pineapples, flip-flops... Before the party
use a permanent marker to write either a 1, 2, or 3
on each item. They will be placed in the water at game
time. Make three prize bags filled with candy bars,
gum, or other inexpensive items. Write 1, 2, or 3 on
each bag. Players hold their hands behind their backs
and use their teeth to grab an item. They then collect
a prize from the bag that matches the # on the item
they caught. This game can be played with any age group,
using simple variations on the same principle.
CRAFTS
Tissue Flowers - remember the flowers you made
as child. Kids still enjoy making them today!
Materials needed for one flower: 4 sheets of 6"X6" tissue
paper (multi color), 1 pipe cleaner
How to make a Tissue Flower:
1. Stack 4 pieces of tissue paper together. "Fan fold" the
tissue paper using 1" folds. Fold back and forth until you
have about a 1" X 6" piece. Cut both ends of your tissue
strip to round the corners. Squeeze the tissue paper in the middle
and twist the piper cleaner tightly to secure. Make a fan on both
sides of the pipe cleaner. Gently pull up each of the four layers
of tissue to make the flower petals.
Lei Necklaces - You'll need: yarn, drinking
straws and colored paper.
Before the party, cut 1" pieces from drinking straws and flowers
from colored paper. Make a hole in the center of each flower using
a hole punch. The children will bead their lei's alternating straws
and flowers until it is the desired length. Tip: Wrap a piece of
tape around the end of the yarn for easy beading.
FOOD
Skewer pieces of fruit, cheese, and meat with fancy toothpicks.
Serve Swedish fish and Goldfish crackers in sand bucket. Have a
frozen drink station…but don’t forget the little drink
umbrellas. Kids love those!

CRAFTS: Give each child a strip of
fabric to decorate using fabric markers. Tie them around
your guest’s heads to get them in the party spirit.
GAMES/ACTIVITIES
How High?: Have a kicking contest, where the kids
compete for the highest kick.
Pinata: Forget the stick at piñata time.
Have the kids punch or kick it!
Balloon Bop: Blow up a lot of balloons. Now tie
2-3 feet of string to each one. Then have each kid tie

to pop everyone elses balloon by stomping on it. Last
one with a non-popped balloon is the winner!
Gift Roundup: Sometimes gift opening can be chaotic and overwhelming.
If each guest brought a gift, try this idea . . . Have children
sit in a circle with presents in their laps. Play "hot potato" and
pass gifts as music plays. The gift that lands in the birthday
child’s lap when the music stops is the next to be opened.

Pirate Party
Recommended Friend: Any
type works with this theme
Clothing/Accessories – Pirate
Outfit and a Recordable
Sound chip.
DECORATIONS
Make a poster for the door that says "AHOY - WELCOME ABOARD!”.
Make or purchase pirate flags in various colors to place around
the party area. Use leftover skeletons from Halloween. Add an eye
patch and bandana for an authentic look.
Do a web search for "find your pirate name" and you'll
get a few sites to choose from. These sites translate your name
into a pirate name. Mine turned out to be "Cannonball Carrie
the Mosquito". Get the pirate names for each of your guest.
These can be added to the pirate hats noted below or you can make
name tags. You can also use these names for the Guess Who game.
CRAFTS
Pirate Hat Craft: Prior to the party, using black
construction paper, cut out the front and back of a pirate
hat for each guest. At the party have your guests decorate
the hats with stickers and add their pirate name to the
front of the hat. Staple the ends of the front and back
together.
Spyglass Craft: Make spyglasses. Have kids cover
the end of a toilet-paper tube with a square of colored
cellophane and fix it in place with a rubber band.
Hook Hand Craft: Cut a small hole through the bottom of a paper
cup. Have the kids decorate the cups and then insert a candy cane
through the hole. The kids will hold the straight end of the cane
and the curved part will be the “hook”.
GAMES/ACTIVITES
Hidden Treasure Search: Bury gold coins, pirate
figures, toy jewelry, swords, etc in a sand filled area.
For older kids, attach a loop of fishing wire to each
item and let them only use the “Hook Hand” to
pick up items.
Treasure Cove: Fill a wading pool with water and throw a couple
of green plastic bowls into it. Provide a treasure box of pennies
to try to pitch into the bowls.
Walk the Plank: Use a 2x4 board to make the plank. The children
take turns walking across the board. When they get to the end they
all get a chocolate coin or a small prize. Repeat as many times
as you wish.
" X" Marks the Spot: Play like Pin the
tail on the donkey--
Before the party make a treasure map from poster board and mark
an X for the location of the treasure. Also make a pirate flag
(small squares of colored paper) for each child with a skull and
crossbones on one side and double stick tape on the other. At game
time cover the players eyes (one player at a time) with a pirate's
bandana. Spin the player gently 2-3 times, then point him towards
the map where he will attempt to find the treasure with his flag.
The player with the flag closest to the treasure wins!
Treasure Chest Toss: Before the party decorate
a cardboard box to look like a wooden chest, or use a
real chest if you have one. Leave the top off or open.
Make or purchase five bean bags. This is a simple bean
bag toss game where the children will take turns tossing
the bean bags into the box from a pre-determined location.
Guess Who Game: (See instruction on Pirate Names under the
decoration section) Prior to the party, make a list of the guest’s
names on one side of the paper and a list of thier pirate names
on the other side. Make sure they are mixed up, because the kids
will need to match the real name to the corresponding pirate name.
Whoever gets the most right wins!

slippers and a blue
blanket.
DECORATING
Hang twinkling light strands all around the party area. Scatter
inflated balloons in the birthday girl’s or boy’s favorite
colors ALL over the floor among the blankets and pillows.
FOOD
Due to the small group nature of sleepovers, you can let the kids
get creative in your kitchen. Kids love to create their own pizza.
Set up an “Ice cream sundae” station where they can
create their own.
GAMES
Something’s Glowing: Hide Several Glow in
the dark items around the room or house. Turn out the
lights and set a timer…The girls must find the
items before the timer runs out.
Tips:
It’s easy to find bags of glow in the dark stars, bugs and
other creatures at your local Dollar Store.
BE SURE that this games is played with a clear floor space, for
safety. The players can use flashlights to maneuver around the
playing space.
Pac Man Tag: Kids take turns being Pac Man and following a maze
through the backyard using a laid down hose to make the path. They
have to collect dots (cardboard painted) and make it to the goal
without being tagged by the "ghostly" other kids. There
is no running allowed. The kids can only walk fast. Use a tape
of sounds from the real game for a great effect. Also the Pac Man
kid got to collect special squares (cardboard again) and chase
the ghosts home.
Balloon Bop: Blow up a lot of balloons. Now tie
2-3 feet of string to each one. Then have each kid tie
the other end to his dominate ankle. Tell them to try
to pop everyone elses balloon by stomping on it. Last

ACTIVITIES
Midnight Silly String: The Glow in the Dark variety
is a huge hit, but the kids will have fun with any kind.
Matchbox Car Race: I also had matchbox car races.
Bought a car for each guest to keep and they had to blow
it across the floor to the finish line. No hands!
Beauty Shop (Obviously this activity is for girls only): Supply
the brushes, barrettes, scrunchies, clips (gel, mousse and hair
spray for older girls) and let their imaginations and hairstyles
run WILD

GAMES
Horseshoe Toss: For this game, we had a galvanized
bucket with cardboard horseshoe covered in foil. The

the bucket.
Pin the Horn on the Unicorn: Using a picture of
a unicorn and a horn shape cut from construction paper,
this game is played like Pin the Tail on the Donkey.
Oat Eating Contest- Place a bowl of Cherios in front of each child.
The first one to eat all of them WITHOUT using their hands wins.
ACTIVITIES

Magic Party
Recommended Friend - Any
type works with this theme
Clothing/Accessories - The wizard
outfit and recordable
sound chip
GAMES/ACTIVITIES
Magic Freeze Tag: Play this game just like "Freeze
Tag". Give each player a small pouch of glitter
before playing. One player will be "it".
When you say "GO" the kids run from whoever
is “it”. If “it” tags a player,
that player is frozen until another player sprinkles
fairy dust on them. Make sure that each player has
a turn to be "it" and that each round does
not take too long.
What’s missing?: Place several items on
a tray or cookie sheet. Try to find items that work with
the theme. Magic wand, a star, a Wizard hat, a crystal,
a stone etc. One player leaves the room. Remove one or
two items from the tray. When the player returns they
must guess what's missing. Everyone gets a turn.
Magic Potions: It wouldn't be a true gathering
of wizards if you could not sample the latest batch of
potions. Fill assorted jars with a variety of colorful
sports drinks or juices. Then set out ice-filled tumblers
into which kids can pour their beverage of choice or
perhaps mix a few together. For a little added authenticity,
provide a sprig of magical herb--mint leaves that the
guests can pull off and drop into their potions.
Search for the Magic Beans: A job is always easier
when great wizard minds join forces. In this case, that
means solving a series of cleverly cryptic clues to find
a stash of magic beans (a fanciful container filled with
multiflavored jelly beans the kids can divvy up and take
home). To set up the hunt, first choose four to six successive
hiding spots around your house or yard (the last one
being where you hide the treasure). Then write a clue
that leads to each one. For example, the first clue,
which might direct the kids to look under a pot of marigolds,
could be printed backward so that they will have to hold
it up to a mirror to read it. The second clue, hidden
under the flowerpot, might lead them to the mailbox.
This time you could write the clue with a white crayon
on white paper and leave it with a colored marker and
instructions to scribble all over the paper to reveal
the message. For the remaining clues, consider posing
a riddle, coming up with a numeric code and a key to
translate each number into a letter, or even creating
a word search puzzle.
CRAFTS
Sorcerer’s Glitter Globe: These crystal
ball party favors are sure to cause a stir among attending
wizards. In the center of each one is a sparkly sorcerer's
stone. Use your hands to mold some polymer clay (such
as Sculpey III) into a small mushroom shape, then press
plenty of glitter onto the clay surface. Next, press
the bottom of the clay "stem" onto the inner
lid of a small clean jar so that it is firmly attached.
Fill the jar almost to the top with water and stir in
a few drops of glycerin (sold at most pharmacies) and
1/2 teaspoon of glitter. The glycerin will increase the
density of the water and cause the glitter to fall more
slowly. Finally, tightly screw the lid onto the jar and
invert the globe.

Face Painting: paint a nose and whiskers with
child friendly face paint
Gift Roundup: Sometimes gift opening can be chaotic
and overwhelming. If each guest brought a gift, try this
idea . . . Have children sit in a circle with presents
in their laps. Play "hot potato" and pass gifts
as music plays. The gift that lands in the birthday child’s
lap when the music stops is the next to be opened.
Birthday Poster: You'll need a large piece of
white butcher paper.
At the top of the banner, write “Happy Birthday (your child’s
name)!” Mount the paper on a wall within easy reach, lay
it on the floor or use a table. Provide crayons, markers, stencils,
stickers, glue, glitter....let your guests create their own masterpieces.
Ask the kids to add their names and ages beside their drawings
for a finishing touch, and encourage them to write special messages
to the birthday child
GAMES
Dog Trainer Says: Based on Simon Says, this game
has the kids doing dog tricks--but only when the leader
prefaces the command with "Trainer says..." The
trainer will need a cheat sheet to remember appropriate
dog commands: Sit. Lie down. Roll over. Speak. Jump.
Shake. Stay. Three-year-olds may have trouble keeping
the rules straight. For them, forget the "Trainer
says" part and just pretend to teach them tricks
like Run around the yard, backward. Five-year-olds might
like the game better if you speed it up and add silly
commands like Growl, Wag your tail, and Bark your head
off. All good puppies get treats for learning their tricks.
Where’s My Bone?: Prior to the party hide
8 dog bones per child. Give each child a paper bag and
send them on the hunt. Once each child finds 5 bones,
have them return them for a small gift
What’s missing?: Place several items on
a tray or cookie sheet. Try to find items that work with
the theme. A dog bone, collar, tags, dog brush, stuffed
dog, etc. One player leaves the room. Remove one or two
items from the tray. When the player returns they must
guess what's missing. Everyone gets a turn.
CRAFT
Door Hangers: Purchase foam door hangers and let
the kids decorate them with markers and stickers
Picture Frames: Purchase cardboard or craft foam
picture frames. Decorate with stickers, ribbons, stick-on
jewels, glitter glue and gel pens. Take a photo of the
kids for each frame.

Clothing/Accessories - Mermaid
outfit for girls (If there will also be boys
at the party, you can use the pirate
outfit and incorporate some Pirate games/activities
in the party.)
DECORATING TIPS
Blue/Green paper products. Hang blue and green streamers from the
ceiling. Add some inflatable fish for an underwater feel.
CRAFTS
Mermaid Crowns: Ahead of time, cut 5-inch-wide
poster board crowns. Gold bulletin borders work great
for this. On a table, set out saucers of glitter, confetti
or stickers along with glue sticks and water-based markers
or crayons. Ask party-goers to decorate their crowns.
Size each by wrapping it around the child's head and
stapling the ends together.
GAMES/ACTIVITIES
Mermaid face...mix aloe vera gel with the fine
glitter. Apply a small amount to the girl’s cheeks.
Balloon Octopus: Blow up a lot of balloons. Now
tie 2-3 feet of string to each one. Then have each kid
tie the other end to his dominate ankle. Tell them to
try to pop everyone elses balloon by stomping on it.
Last one with a non-popped balloon is the winner!
Treasure Toss: Fill a wading pool with water and throw a couple
of green plastic bowls into it. Provide a treasure box of pennies
to try to pitch into the bowls.
Hidden Treasure Search: Bury gold coins, seashells, jewels, jewelry
etc in a sand filled area. You can then use the seashells and jewels
to decorate the Mermaid Crowns.
" Hot Seashell": Pass the seashell around the
circle from person to person quickly, while music is playing. When
the music stops, the person holding the seashell sits in the middle
or controls the music for one round.
Bobbing for Seashells:Fill a large plastic tub with water.
Purchase floating items; plastic fish, shells, pineapples, flip-flops...
Before the party use a permanent marker to write either a 1, 2,
or 3 on each item. They will be placed in the water at game time.
Make three prize bags filled with candy bars, gum, or other inexpensive
items. Write 1, 2, or 3 on each bag. Players hold their hands behind
their backs and use their teeth to grab an item. They then collect
a prize from the bag that matches the # on the item they caught.
This game can be played with any age group, using simple variations
on the same principle.

blown up and tied together, the kids have to run thru
it, a foot in each circle. Next take 6 dowel rods and

then tie string back and forth between them. The kids
have to crawl under this. Next place a long plank over
two short saw horses, for the kids to walk over. Then
position 5 hula hoops, small and large ones around the
